Divest UVic, my o.g. organizing home, asked me to come back to design and paint this mural. We used it to welcome UVic’s new president Dr. Kevin Hall, and let him know that divestment is long overdue.

I did some fun experimentation for this mural. The brown and white paint is made of natural clay pigments, the blue and black are tempera, and I made stencils out of recycled floor linoleum for the salmon.

Three months later, UVic divested one of its two major funds! The UVic endowment fund still has $40 million invested in fossil fuels.
