Between November 2017 and August 2018, hundreds of people gathered at Burnaby Mountain on Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) territories. They volunteered, cooked, cleaned, and put their bodies in the way of trucks entering Kinder Morgan’s facilities to try to stall construction on the Trans Mountain pipeline.
When Sierra Club asked me to make a comic about climate justice, I had to make it about the time I spent at the Watch House. The time I spent there really stuck with me.
