We created this mural based on ideas from adult English language students who are new to Canada. We asked students what makes them feel welcome and what they are proud of from their culture. Their ideas included falling snow, migrating birds, and the lighthouse; a symbol of safety.

The flower pot represents the theme of welcome and re-rooting in a new place. The images of weaving represent community, friendship, and learning from elders.
