This mural is for the City of Victoria Commercial Alley street gallery by the Youth Empowerment Centre. I painted the panels in the summer on my deck.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the idea “When the pandemic is over what if things can be better than before?” The status quo is that the best we can hope for is for life to go back to normal again, but to young people “normal” is a future of catastrophic climate change. But why are our standards so horribly low when the future could be better?

One of the things that has inspired me is the City of Victoria planting hundreds of seedlings to distribute to families around the city. What if every spring there were food plant seedlings growing all over city parks?
